About the practice

A small practice,
written down.

We are a working studio of people who would rather write a paragraph than draw a diagram. The practice is structured around a single idea: the document is the work, and the work is the document.

We started this practice because the prevailing answers — the templates, the playbooks, the rehearsed talking points — tend to miss the texture of the problems we actually get hired to solve. So we made a small place to do the work differently: slower, more specific, in full sentences, with the names of people and the dates of weeks attached to every recommendation. The result is not a clever framework. It is a record of careful thinking that your team can argue with on Monday morning.

If it isn’t on the page, it didn’t happen.

House rule no. 1

§ Method

Three commitments,
held to on every job.

No. 01

Write everything down

Our deliverables are documents — diagnostics, plans, briefs — written in full sentences with footnotes and an index. They read longer. They hold up longer.

No. 02

Name the trade-offs

Every recommendation comes with what you give up to take it. We refuse the recommendation that pretends to be free.

No. 03

Tell you when we are wrong-fit

Some problems want a bigger firm, a different specialty, or no consultant at all. We say so on the first call.

§ Who this is for

Teams that want the harder, slower answer.

We work best with organizations whose leadership has stopped expecting a shortcut. That usually means a founding team past the first few hires, a mid-stage operation with a real budget and a real backlog, or a department inside a larger company that has been given room to think.

We do not run sprints, retainers, or open-ended advisory. Every engagement has a scoped end, a written deliverable, and a calendar date by which you should have stopped thinking about us.

What an engagement looks like

A first conversation — usually a long phone call — to figure out whether we are the right fit. If we are, a two-to-three-week diagnostic that produces the written argument. After that, optional implementation support, capped at six weeks, with a hand-off document that lets the next person inside your company own the work.

Care to begin a conversation?

One short note, one business day, one honest answer about fit.
